Monroe Township Fire & EMS

Clermont County, Ohio

Monroe Township is located in southwest Clermont County, Ohio and covers a total of 31.7 square miles. The Department runs out of two stations, Station 32 (North), and Station 33 (South). Starting out as a strictly volunteer department up until 2004, Monroe Township now has the ability to staff up to 6 Firefighter/Paramedics 24/7. Currently staffed at 9 full-time employees who work a set 24/48 hour schedule, roughly 30 part-time employees, and many volunteers; the township is capable of providing advanced life saving measures and rapid fire suppression 24/7 with no delay.

Department Chief

Steve Downey

As a fourth generation firefighter, Steve has over 34 years of experience from departments across Clermont, Brown, Hamilton county and more. Prior; Steve was the Assistant Chief of Stonelick Township for 13 years.

Assistant Chief

Greg Lang

Greg 23 years of experience with the fire service. Greg is trained in many fields including Hazardous Materials, Fire Officer Training, Personal Trainer and Nutritionist certified.

Deputy Chief

Nate Ritchey

Nate has 23 years of experience spanning across Loveland-Symmes, City of Lebanon and Milford Fire Departments. Nate is member of the Greater Cincinnati HazMat, a fire instructor, and many more certifications.

Captain, Unit 1

Richard Lovett

Richard has 13 years of experience in the fire service working with several departments across Clermont, Brown, and Adams County from volunteer to fulltime. He actively works volunteer while off duty and is the EMS officer for the department.

Lieutenant, Unit 1

Austin Caldwell

Austin has 9 years of experience from volunteer to now a full time lieutenant. Austin is a fire safety inspector, CPR instructor, rope rescue technician as well as a lieutenant at his home volunteer department.

Captain, Unit 2

Michael Welch

Michael has 10 years of experience across multiple departments. He started at Monroe Township in 2015 and became a fulltime firefighter/EMT in 2022. He was then promoted to Lieutenant later the same year.

Lieutenant, Unit 2

Tim Feldkamp

Tim has 25 years of experience, across numerous departments. Tim primarily works as the Chief of New Richmond Fire and EMS. Tim is a Fire Instructor.

Lieutenant, Unit 3

Carl Watson

Carl has 13 years as a certified volunteer, part-time, and full time Firefighter. He is a passenger vehicle and heavy rescue technician, as well as a CPR instructor. Carl grew up in the service and has extending knowledge from his years of experience as a cadet prior to becoming certified.
